Studio Policies
My Responsibilites
I strive to foster a positive learning environment for students to pursue their goals. We will work together to develop a curriculum that fits each student's needs. With a progressive practice plan as well as performance opportunities, we can work together to build your musicality, technique, and self-expression.
Tuition & Billing
Flat monthly tuition rates are based on the number of guaranteed lessons in the calendar year. There will be a minimum of 42 lessons offered throughout the year, and the weeks where lessons are not held (due to holidays or personal performance opportunities) will be communicated in advance. Two additional lessons will be built into the calendar, for a total of 44 lessons during the year. In the case of teacher illness or emergency, these two additional lessons can be canceled on short notice. These weeks are complimentary in the case that no illness cancellations occur.
Tuition invoices will be sent one week before the 1st of the month for all enrolled students. Invoices will reflect the number of lessons in that month based on the calendar and the studio schedule.
Payment received after the fifth of each month is subject to a $10 late fee. Payment received after the 10th of the month is subject to an additional $15 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.
Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.
Automatic payment is available for all students through Stripe, and is the preferred method of payment. Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle will not be accepted.
*Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.
Commitment
When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.
If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.
Fall Term - September through December
Spring Term - January through May
Summer Term - June through August
Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.
Student and Parent Responsibilities
Students are expected to arrive at each lesson punctually, well-prepared, and with the appropriate equipment and materials. This includes a pencil, functioning instrument, mouthpiece and ligature, multiple functioning reeds, sheet music, metronome, and any required method books. To make good progress, daily quality practice is required. Students are expected to practice the lesson materials everyday for at least as long as our lesson time. Please ask questions about home assignments so that the student and parents can completely understand the assignments and goals.
Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.
All students are encouraged to play at the studio recitals and take auditions for local ensembles and competitions. If an opportunity arises, please bring information to the next lesson so that I can help your student prepare. Playing a musical instrument can be such an exciting and rewarding journey for every student. I encourage them to find joy in every note and every rhythm. This an opportunity for them to learn and fun!
Absences and Cancellations
Lessons canceled in less than 24 hours notice will not be provided a makeup lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a makeup lesson for the following month.
Each month one day will be offered for makeup lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.
Makeup lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.
Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.
Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a makeup lesson credit for that month.
